Housing in Bangkok is not the only thing a budget traveler should enjoy. In fact, they will almost certainly enjoy the street food stalls much more. These stalls are everywhere, and when we say everywhere, they are literally on every street and on every corner.

The types of dishes sold by street vendors are too varied to try to list. Of course, there will be the local dishes, which in certain cases, you won’t even know what they are selling. And then there will be the more Western-style foods like fried chicken, fried rice, and blueberry waffles, if you can believe it.

One word of warning, which is that Thai people like their food incredibly hot and spicy. In fact, if it’s a Thai-style dish known to be spicy, most Westerners won’t even be able to eat it. Most of the street vendors in Bangkok have been dealing with foreign tourists for many years and speak some English. If you order something from them, it is highly recommended that you say something like “Not Hot”, “Not Hot” or “Not Hot”, so your mouth doesn’t catch fire soon after taking the first bite.

It’s a nightmare getting around Bangkok if you don’t know what you’re doing and where you’re going. There are very cheap taxis everywhere, but very few of the drivers speak good English. Fortunately, Bangkok now has the BTS (Sky Train) and a subway.

If you want to go somewhere in Bangkok, the best thing to do is to use the BTS or the subway. Try using google maps to look up the location to find the nearest exit to get off the BTS or subway. From there you can take a taxi, but you will need an address printed in Thai so the driver knows exactly where to go. Most major establishments have websites you can use to print an address in Thai.

Bangkok’s nightlife has something for everyone, no matter where you come from or what you like to do. The city itself is quite exciting and a place that everyone should visit at least once in their life.
