You are playing as Kiryu Kazuma in Yakuza 0 on PlayStation 4 (PS4), halfway through Chapter 1: Oathbound. Another tough battle against Daisaku Kuze, one of the Dojima family’s lieutenants, and immediately after that you will meet your Brawler trainer, Bacchus.

Later, in a street fight, Bacchus asks you to watch this individual, named Kamoji, on how he approaches the fight. During the fight, that moment of weaving quick steps inspires you to another new style of battle, known as the quick style.

As Kiryu unleashes the quick style, you are covered in purple vibes. Your movements and attacks become faster and your quick steps become ultra fast, evading the enemy’s attack.

During the battle, you can deal more blows that have less impact. Some lightning fast combos would leave the enemy stunned. All of that sounds great, considering that each quick step consumes Heat, which means you’re less likely to get sixteen chances to perform the Heat Finisher, by pressing Triangle.

Surrounded by enemies, be they Yakuza, Dojima, Men In Black or any kind of thugs. Punches, kicks, and weapons will be launched for you to use by pressing the L1 button, followed by a quick counter attack by pressing the Triangle button. Unfortunately, while enemies have fun throwing weapons, you won’t be able to grab, throw enemies, or pick up weapons, just by pressing the Circle button.

Ok, now we know the basics of quick style struggling. Kamoji will teach you five lessons to train in the Shichifuku parking lot in Kamurocho, Tokyo, Japan. On the condition that he must pay for matches in which a victory wins 1.5 times the amount wagered. The rule is simple under one time condition, to avoid being knocked down to the ground in a one-on-one combat battle.

The five lessons to perfect your Rush Style Battle

swallow spirit

You will unlock this after dodging, by pressing L1, from Onishi for a 60 second time limit. The trick here is to press X in time with enemy attacks to build up the heat gauge.

damaged tissue

In the second lesson, you will evade Sugiyama for a 60 second time limit. Sugiyama is much faster and more direct, so timing your dodge is absolutely essential here. After finishing this fight, you will be rewarded with a new move, Damage Weaving, by pressing L1 or X when hit by an enemy attack to perform a weave move and dodge.

floating protection 1

In the third lesson, you will face a brute named Endo for 60 seconds. You will need to use L1 to weave and press X to take quick steps to dodge his attacks. Once the time is up, he will learn Floating Re-Guard 1 by pressing L1 after his guard breaks to move away and re-up guard.

fast step counter

In the fourth lesson, you will apply the same exercise against Hidaka, who wields a katana in his hands. The quick step, double-tapping the X button, is absolutely essential to dodge his katana for the full 60 seconds. After 60 seconds, you’ll be rewarded with Counter Quickstep by holding R1 to get into a fighting stance, then press Circle in time with an enemy’s attack that allows you to evade and switch places with the enemy.

Relentless Barrage Essence

In the final lesson of the Masters Rush Style training, you’ll apply the same drill against Nagano, who will be holding a weapon with a high health bar. Anticipating his evasion shots using Quickstep, with double tap X, will be the key to victory. You have now learned the essence of the Relentless Barrage by pressing Triangle near a frightened enemy. Quite useful for exploiting a gap in the enemy’s defenses to unleash a combo attack.

Finally, you will face three shadowy men, Hashimoto, Kabu and Abe. use all quick style moves you have learned for this final boss battle. You will discover that Hashimoto is the most difficult enemy, since he likes to do a somersault.

So, that’s it in the Punchout Artist training and you will be rewarded 200 million yen with the completion points: learn all the Kamoji moves. See Kiryu’s dashing style in action in the Yakuza 0 walkthrough.
