If you have never had the opportunity to travel to the Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas, it is a place you must try! The resort is like a trip to another world, located on the shores of Paradise Island in Nassau, Bahamas. It is incredibly picturesque, with pink and coral towers stretching out overlooking coves, bays, and the beautiful waters of the Bahamian Islands. Once you’re snuggled up in your room by the pool or the beach, you’ll have the chance to explore all the tropical fish and aquarium activity, the dolphins, and the Atlantis “dig” that’s uncovering all the ancient artifacts…

The whole concept of the resort is the lost island of Atlantis that Plato wrote about many years ago, and which some say is located near or in the Bahamas. Divers have found strange underwater stone “pathways” on at least one of the islands. Atlantis Resort has turned that into a theme, where they have created “digs” on the property that you can walk through and see some of the weird and wonderful discoveries that have been found under the surface or under the water. You can also enjoy the many tropical aquariums loaded with exotic species of fish, including the Pacific manta ray, which was one of my favorites. They have at least two of them and it’s fun to watch as they glide their huge bodies through the water and swim gracefully to show off.

There is a tunnel you can explore with ruins and it is part of the Atlantis excavation which also has fantastic views of the underwater habitat of the many types and varieties of fish in the many tanks. These are not just local aquarium type internal tanks, they are open to the environment in natural pools and some of them are interconnected as well. There are sharks of different species swimming from one pool to another, and the resort makes it very easy to see them with various bridges and other high points around it. There are wonderfully designed trails throughout the property, and you could spend most of the day just exploring the different areas and locations.

They have at least 3 tropical themed pools at the Atlantis Resort, with a lot going on at each one, and a special kiddie pool for the little ones. If you’re interested in a bit more active play then try swimming with the dolphins in their own large enclosed lagoon! For an additional fee, you can get in the water with the dolphins and participate in a program where you can interact, touch and swim with them. This program is very popular, so be sure to make your reservation as soon as you arrive at the resort!

How about some snorkeling? They have a fantastic cove right on the beach that is very sheltered from the strong waves off the coast, and has amazing clarity and also lots of beautiful tropical fish of various kinds. Be careful though, there is one species that shouldn’t be there, and that is the beautiful lion fish or scorpion fish! This fish is native to the tropical areas of the Pacific and was imported to Atlantis for use in their aquariums and outdoor fish tanks. However, there was an accident of some kind and some of them were mistakenly dumped in the ocean, and they have thrived all over the area and up and down the Atlantic coast of the US ever since! I found at least one of them in the secluded snorkeling cove at the Atlantis Resort, and they have poisonous spines that you don’t want to accidentally touch or step on, so it’s always a good idea to wear footwear of some sort while you’re there. you are in the ocean

Be careful with the prices at the Atlantis Resort too, because it is NOT an all-inclusive resort! Almost everything is an additional fee and can really add to the total cost of your stay. There are many excellent restaurants, but none of them are included in your stay and you can choose between them for an additional charge. If you’re looking to save a bit of money, there’s a great strip of restaurants in the marina right next to the property within a couple of minutes’ walk that will probably have much better prices than the resort, and you’ll want to go there anyway for some shopping. opportunities.

Anyway, I hope everyone gets a chance to visit this great resort, although it is a bit more expensive than many others due to the fact that it is not an all-inclusive resort, you will definitely want to try it at least once. You’ll enjoy the many swimming areas and slides at this huge water park and aquarium, and be sure to take lots of pictures! It’s a great place to go and decompress from the stress of everyday life. Have fun!
