PC gaming is a form of gaming that many consider to be a dying breed. With console games becoming more popular, PC gaming seems to be on the decline. PC gamers are considered by many to be an elite group, spending more time upgrading their PCs than gaming. In reality, nothing could be further from the truth. I am a mixed race gamer myself, I enjoy the best of both worlds, but I know a lot of people who either use PC gaming or console gaming. These gamers have a very radical view of modern gaming, just like console gamers, although both are very contrasting. After interacting with many unique PC gamers, I’ve put together a list of a few things they believe about the world of gaming. Please note that I am not being biased towards console gamers in any way, and this is just a fun post, glorifying some of the common stereotypes that gamers who play on their PCs say and think.

1. 1080p is so last generation

I bet you’ve heard this before from your PC gaming friends. Today’s consoles still can’t produce full 1080p (not upscaled) games at 60fps, and this is a feature they sorely crave from 8th-gen consoles. But PC gamers have been playing at this resolution for a couple of years now, and they find this resolution pitiful.

2. Mouse and keyboard gaming is where it’s at

Console gamers commonly fight over which is better, the PS3 controller or the Xbox 360 controller. PC gamers say, fuck both of them, mouse and keyboard gaming is where it’s at. It is true that the mouse provides precision that cannot be matched by a joystick controller. But this does not mean that the drivers are complete garbage. In fact, fighting games are games that seem to be made exclusively for console controllers. Also, FPS games aren’t as bad on an Xbox 360 controller as PC gamers claim.

3. All Starcraft II Pawns

Over the years, I have played many games on PC that I consider legendary, including Doom, World of Warcraft, Diablo, etc. But, in modern PC games, Starcraft II dominates. It dominates to the extent that many of my PC gaming friends don’t play any games other than that nowadays. According to them, Starcraft II is on one side and all other games on the other. For them

Starcraft II>>>God of War III

Starcraft II>>>Cryis 2

Starcraft II>>>Uncharted 3

Starcraft II>>>Gears Of War 3

No matter what type, Starcraft PWNS all.

4. Ruined Modern Game Consoles (Ruined Crysis 2, Ruined Dragon Age 2, Ruined Skyrim)

This generation, due to declining profits, we saw many developers turn their attention to console gaming, rather than PC. Because of this, many games that were masterpieces on PC saw sequels that were made with consoles in mind, therefore they had to be toned down, in keeping with the aging settings of the consoles. The result was buggy software, with lower-than-expected graphics on PCs. This deeply disappointed PC gamers and increased their hatred towards consoles and console gamers.

5. Motion Gaming is a fad

Many of us believe that, like it or not, motion games are the future of gaming. Wii, Microsoft Kinect and PlayStation Move are an example of this. But many PC gamers are not willing to accept this and have decided to turn their heads away from the truth. These PC gamers believe that motion games are just a fad and will be gone soon. Personally, I think the next generation will have an even bigger focus on motion gaming, and if motion gaming is a fad, then this fad is going to last a long time.

6. Online games for consoles are a joke.

The 7th generation consoles are the consoles that saw a heavy focus on online gaming from developers. It’s not that online gaming wasn’t around before this generation, but this is the generation where online gaming gained wide appeal. PC gamers, on the other hand, have been gaming online for a long time, and that too in a better way. PC gamers have dedicated servers as well as private servers. PC gamers are open to the world of custom mods. Console gamers, on the other hand, are spoon-fed.

7. Eighth-gen consoles will be just as powerful as today’s low-end PCs

PC gamers have a habit of exaggerating the difference in specs between PC and consoles. So much to the extent that PC gamers claim that the upcoming Xbox 720 and PS4 will have specs that match today’s low-end PC. PCs may be more powerful than consoles, but to say that is an exaggeration.

8. Console gamers suck.

Out of all of the above, PC gamers end up believing one thing, which to put it mildly, is that console gamers suck. PC gamers believe that it’s console gamers who are ruining games in general, with their lower graphics standards and habit of being spoon-fed by developers.

These are just a few things that most PC gamers unanimously believe. Some may be true while others may be a bit exaggerated.

(And prepare your thoughts, a similar list will appear soon for console gamers)
