Our family is an animal lover. I remember having multiple dogs in our backyard over 10 years ago. However, I never got one until the last week of May 2013. My husband got me a beagle and we named him Peach. After two months we bought a Siberian Husky and named him Dixie. Back then, he thought that caring for a dog was just a “feed and wash” routine. I never expected that having a dog would be one of the most rewarding things ever.

These are my reasons why having and loving a dog is priceless. (In no particular order):

1. Incredible loyalty

They are always happy to see you. They give immeasurable love and affection. She happily greets good morning every day, with a complimentary lick to her hands or face. It feels like they have a commitment to you and they will never leave you no matter what.

2. Perfect partner for jogging/walking

Constantly excited about jogging/walking. It helps us lead a fuller, longer and healthier life. Personally, I’m not a fan of jogging and walking, it’s just not my thing. For me, it is a waste of time and very tiring. I don’t have an active lifestyle, plain and simple. Until my two sweet furry creatures cam.

3. Constant source of entertainment

Your playmate 24/7. Fun all day, every day. It is as if they have all the energy of the Earth. I’m convinced from this quote that “if dogs could talk, it would be a lot of fun to have one.” ~Andy Rooney

4. The best pain reliever for stress

They’re smart enough to know if you’re having a terrible day. They feel strongly about it and will surely do things that will make you smile and feel good again. When you feel sad, your dog will notice right away and adjust his behavior accordingly. You are the center of his whole world, so feeling your sad feelings will also have an effect on him.

5. A very good teacher!

They can effectively teach you to:

– love unconditionally
– be more responsible
– be a cleaning expert (for all you dog lovers, right?! right!)
– live fully as if there were no tomorrow
– appreciate every moment of life
– be trustworthy
be trainable
– certainly protect and defend your loved ones
– be persistent with your dreams (toys and food for them) and many more…

So why not get a dog today? Remember that “No matter how little money and few possessions you have, having a dog makes you rich.” -Louis Sabin
