As you know from my other articles, I am a club level runner and when I can’t run on the road, I love running on my treadmill.

Using a treadmill is a safe, convenient, and comfortable alternative to running on the road. I was lucky enough to try Reebok’s T5.1 treadmill recently and wanted to share my thoughts with you.

First of all, I will give you a list of the technical details of the machines:

  • 2 hp motor (continuous duty)
  • Speed range 0-16kph/0-10mph
  • Adjustable incline from 0-15%
  • Backlit LCD display
  • Hands-free operation with motion control
  • Integrated Polar receiver for heart rate monitoring
  • pulse sensors
  • belt 50 x 140 cm
  • 9 user profiles
  • 36 built-in programs
  • Maximum user weight of 150 kg.
  • Assembled Dimensions: 194 cm long x 95 cm wide x 139 cm high
  • Folded dimensions: 110 cm long x 95 cm wide x 165 cm long
  • Space-saving soft-drop technology
  • 2-year parts and labor, 10-year motor, lifetime frame

So even with a brief glance you can see that this is a quality machine.

The motor provides 2 HP of continuous duty. This makes the machine quieter and gives a much smoother feel during operation. The belt itself is a good size and the phenol coating gives it that extra feeling of durability. Add this to the swing arm suspension and you have a treadmill that is truly a joy to run on. Your body is subjected to much less impact – Perfect for those who want to take more care of their joints

When I’m not working out I’ve been known to be a bit of a geek and that’s why the t5.1’s motion control really impressed me. I’ve called them “Jedi Control” since all you have to do is wave your hand over the sensors to adjust the speed and incline during your workout. This isn’t just a gimmick, it’s actually a great feature and is great for those who are less confident. You don’t have to lean forward to make adjustments, or even hold on to the railing. Just say hello to make the changes.

The programs on this machine are numerous and cover all the training goals you’ll need, such as calorie, distance, or time goals. You can also follow a speed or time interval program. The heart rate control program takes advantage of the built-in polar receiver for completely individual training (chest straps sold separately). If these workouts aren’t enough, you can also create your own custom programs and tailor the speed and incline to your personal preferences.

While you exercise, all the data you need is displayed on the backlit screen. You won’t have to worry about monitoring your progress.

Smooth drop technology and integrated wheels make storing the treadmill a piece of cake.

So based on my testing and the tech specs on this machine, I would happily recommend the t5.1 to:

  • Those who feel like exercising but want to take care of their joints.
  • Runners who want to push themselves with a wide variety of programs
  • People who want to run to lose weight.
  • Anyone who wants a treadmill that is safe and easy to use

I was lucky enough to test this machine. If you can, then I recommend you do it too. It is a high-end treadmill from one of the market leaders.
