This piece has a subjective question at its heart and a subjective answer to match it. As a massage school, we know first-hand how good massage is as a relaxation tool. So this piece is not so much a comparison of different relaxation techniques (although there are many), but rather a piece on how effective massage therapy is in helping you slow down and relax. Before taking a closer look at its merits as a tool, let’s take a brief look at what relaxation does to your body.

What happens to you when you ‘relax’?

We all know what it is to relax, we are all aware of achieving the greatest possible relaxation in our lives, but what exactly is ‘relaxing’ and what happens to us and our bodies when we manage to relax?

When we manage to step back, slow down, and enjoy life, we all call it relaxation. When we do this, our body reacts. Our blood pressure improves, our mental health improves, and you reduce the chance of diabetes and reduce stress levels.

You can see why relaxing is important from the above. It is important to control our stress levels. This will improve our mood and our general outlook on life. You will also be able to sleep better. There are many good points to relax and overall, it will have a positive impact on your overall health.

It is important to have some “time to relax”.

How massage is perfect for relaxation

Massage therapy is perfect for work. Having both physical and mental benefits, it is very effective and the two combine very well.

We first look at what happens physiologically. A good therapist will be able to bring you to a state of peace in which your heart and breathing rate slows down, your blood pressure is lowered, and your stress and anxiety dissipate. The process will also release serotonin which positively affects your emotions and leaves you feeling pretty good.

Then there is the physical side of things. While it is not as effective as bringing you to a relaxed state, it is important to remember that a healthy body is a happy body. Physical manipulation of your soft tissues will improve blood circulation, improve oxygen supply, and improve the health of your body. And as we know, a more efficient body requires less energy and less burden in your life.

If you add aromatherapy to the mix, you get a very powerful relaxation tool and technique.
