What do you think of when you hear the slogan “MakeMoneyToday”? People have the vision that what is to come has something to do with making money and something will happen soon.
Branding this type of tagline isn’t easy, but it can be done with a little patience and the right steps at first. Here are the steps I tell new team members in my online marketing organization.
1. Create website domain names (URLs) that say something about you and your reason for being in online marketing. Write down three to five ideas and look at them and think about them for a while. I often talk about some simple ones like
– Get rich with Charlie
– Make your dreams come true
– I love golf
-TomWilson
– Wealth is near
2. You get the idea! After writing several, looking at them, and deciding which ones I like best, I head over to my favorite provider to purchase the domain name. All online companies where you can buy domain names have a place to see if the name is available. This is a key step. Try to make sure that the domain name you select is available as both .com and .net. Example: YourBrandingName.com & YourBrandingName.net. Don’t buy these yet, you still have more work to do!
3. Next, we want to make sure we can carry personal branding through social media and email providers.
Take a trip to Twitter and see if your brand name (YourBrandingName) is available, and then head over to Facebook to do the same. The more social media sites you can duplicate that name, the better.
4. The last step is to make sure that you can duplicate the email address. I prefer Google for my online marketing email source, so of course I have gained control of
(example). Google Mail provides other features like calendar and documents to go along with your name.
5. Once you know all of this is workable, start over at the beginning and purchase your domain names for around $10.00 each. The rest of the plan should be free of charge. Imagine, you have totally branded yourself and your montra name for $20.00
Your main goal with all this effort is for people to be able to find out about you in search engines, this process is known as SEO or search engine optimization.
Whenever you do something on the Internet, like writing an article, posting an ad, writing a press release, etc., use this name (YourBrandingName) as a keyword. You are gaining search engine placement and preparing for recognition.
You are now in a position to start building that name recognition by adding followers and providing content on Twitter, Facebook, etc. It won’t be long until the world of social media and online networking will know you by your brand name. . Rock Star’s notoriety is just around the corner.
Remember to follow the steps before making any purchase of a domain name. Getting this process set up early in your online marketing career will prevent you from having to miss out on branding efforts as you get started. The brand has much more power than you imagine. Free Google location and recognition is extremely powerful.
