I’ve been blogging for a few months now and wish I knew then what I knew now. The problem with starting a Blog and figuring out what to do is that there doesn’t seem to be a step-by-step source in plain, straightforward, straightforward English, so I’ve created this one for you. It is not perfect as it is based on what I have learned about blogging and how to make money blogging in the last few months and I am sure there are many improvements so use this as a rough guide. A foundation for information is better than nothing and should start from somewhere with your feet on the ground. You can use this guide if you just want to blog and are not interested in making money or if you want to blog and make money without doing any extra work. Sounds like a good deal, okay! The first part of this guide begins with obtaining a domain name and if you are already familiar with it, you can skip and begin with Section 2. Please note that a more complete revised version of this article is included on the Blog with more links. in the Resources Section.

(Optional) Section 1. Registering a domain for your blog

The first thing to do is register a domain name for your blog. I suggest you just use a COM domain and try to find the shortest and simplest name you can find, without hyphens or numbers. You will find that all the individual names have been taken, so think of a simple phrase or something memorable and you will probably find something available after a few hours. I wouldn’t recommend using a network, organization, etc, regardless of the name because people tend to forget anything other than com, and if you use net, chances are people put a COM in its place and it is giving you traffic free to another site. and lose yours. Once I find a Com that you can post to your blog, I’ll go ahead and post it to Godaddy, which is super cheap. If you don’t want anyone to know that you own the domain, including removing your name, number, address, and email address, it will cost you another $ 10 a year or so for private registration, I suggest you do so for protect your privacy. Basically, the contact information you provide should match your credit card and financial information. Once you sign up, be sure to keep a copy of your Godaddy password numbers in a safe place. Later you will need hosting space for your blog site and blogging software which will be presented in later chapters. Don’t sign up with Godaddy Hosting if you want to use the company I recommend for everything, including Hosting.

Section 2. AdSense

Google AdSense is the easiest-to-find money you will ever make in your life and there is no expense for you, if you wish, AdSense. If you are not interested in making extra money with AdSense, just don’t put it on your blog, it’s up to you. The small Google ads and the occasional larger image ads you see on web pages are AdSense. The way AdSense works is that you sign up for free in the program and you can cancel anytime you want and in return Google places these ads on your blog / website. All a person has to do is click on an ad on your blog and they will pay you between 1 cent and possibly $ 10 or more per click. Usually I average around 20 cents on the dollar, ads increase if you get 40 clicks a day. How much you get paid depends on a variety of things for which you should read the AdSense rules and policies. AdSense pays you once you hit the $ 100 mark and then start over. I have made several hundred dollars in a few months, which is pretty cool for not getting any work done! Simply put, the more traffic your blog attracts, the more clicks you will have and the more money you will make. Google is pretty strict that clicks are legitimate and if they see that you violated their program, they might be able to permanently kick you out with no possibility of resetting, seriously! You should read their rules and policies several times for AdSense. The main thing is not to click on your own ads and not have friends or family to do it and not ask people to click on the ads on your blogs, or you will get kicked out of AdSense. The best thing to do is have them on your site and say nothing. Again, be sure to read their policy on what AdSense will allow. The Blog software I used already had AdSense in the Program. My blog is linked in the resources section.

I will refer to you and give you a contact address in Section 4. Most other blogs, as far as I know, you have to manually paste the AdSense Codes into the pages. The WordPress Blog program I use does not require it.

Section 3. E-commerce on your blog

I use a program called The Easy Store that is part of my blog or vice versa. Basically, Easy Store allows you to set up a niche store of any or all Amazon products and for any product purchased you get a commission of 4-6% as a general rule of thumb that is paid directly from Amazon. Easy Store is not free, but it will probably cost you $ 200 if you have a logo made. Without a logo, probably around $ 120. The software is not complicated and the software with the Blog software will be installed for free by Zeus Design, who will go over everything with you and be available for technical assistance. My Gift Shop in Resources is an easy shop.

Section 4. Get the software for blogging (WordPress) and AdSense, e-commerce and hosting if you want it

As mentioned above, I use Zeus Design to do everything for me and I am very happy with everything they have done for me. This is not intended to be an infomercial as it is my unsolicited and uncompensated endorsement of a company that I am very happy with who does excellent, fast, reliable, quality work and is pleasant to deal with. Feel free to deal with other companies, I can only tell you what works for me and your welcome to deal with them. If you want to set up a WordPress Blog similar to mine with AdSense installed, an Easy Store as part of the Blog and Hosting, I recommend that you contact Zeus Design.

The price in my opinion is quite reasonable and affordable. Or like I said, feel free to go through different companies.

Section 5. Once you have your blog online

These are some of the things I have learned if you want better traffic. Remember that this will not happen overnight.

1. Always use an image or illustration on each of your blogs. I made the mistake of not doing this for the first few months and it cost me dearly. Try to wear something that grabs someone’s attention in a good way whenever possible. I invested $ 30 in a software that allows me to merge 2 images as a master image without which I could not do without on my blog called Picture Merge Genius.

2. Always make your blog title as exciting and eye-catching as possible with important keywords.

3. Write whenever possible about current, new, and exciting things and ideas and about people who are in the news and in the public mind rather than things and memories from your life, unless it applies to everyone else. I read the news online about 10 times a day to look for something interesting. The Internet is your main source of news. For example, I found a photo of Sara Palin pregnant 20 years ago and put it next to a photo of her supposedly pregnant from Trig and turned it into a separate Blog with my take on the whole thing, and it got about 15,000 readers. Mind you, I was lucky, but that doesn’t beat almost any reader who writes about my favorite HDTV model! It will probably take you a few months to learn how to do it. Just remember that while you and your family may love your personal stories and philosophy of life, most people don’t care.

4. Try to avoid alienating a large group of people if you don’t have to. I wrote a lot of blogs about Sarah Palin that weren’t favorable and I’m sure it drove a lot of people away from reading my blog again. On the other hand, I also won over my readers. This was something he had no other choice about. However, I was going to blog about the kind of people I shouldn’t date if you don’t want trouble, but didn’t post it because I thought it would alienate a lot of my readers, who are a valuable audience.

5. Try to be as prolific as possible. When I originally started, I thought about writing 3-5 blogs a week. Instead, I write more than 15-20 a week, 2-4 a day. I think the best thing for me is to start writing as soon as I have an idea. Like I said, the beauty of blogging is that the pieces don’t have to be that long. The more prolific you are, the more likely you are to reach a wider audience and earn more money!

6. For both your tags and AdSense, use the Google Keyword Tool. Make sure you set this program, it shows the average CPC in descending order and remember there are 2 parts in this column. Under choose columns, choose ALL.

7. If you own other ecommerce sites like I do, please list them after your blog ends, as people might visit these sites.

8. Log in and sign up for technorati Every time you blog, ping technorati. Just use the original URL of the blogs, not the individual URL of the blog post you just published.

9. Login and Register with Digg Every time you blog, ping Digg. Use the URL of the blog you just published, which you get by clicking on its title on the home page of your blogs.

10. Log in and sign up for Reddit Every time you blog, ping Digg. Use the URL of the blog you just published, which you get by clicking on its title on the home page of your blogs.

11. Enroll in Feedburner

12. Most of the Pings I receive are spam requests. Currently I do not accept any.

13. I accept comments.

14. Tags serve as keywords to index in browsers like Google.

15. I would have a short summary of each blog.

16. You can have more than one category for a blog, as appropriate.

17. If you use the Zeus hosting package (Madfire), you can check at any time how many visits to your blog and see which blogs get the best traffic and which ones get the worst.
