A Brief History of Electronic Lockers: Lockers were initially invented to protect valuables from fire, theft, insects, and destructive chemicals. They are typically made of durable, fire-retardant materials such as powder-coated steel to prevent corrosion. Through the years, they have evolved along with the technology available to men. Common lockers were initially made of a steel body with a lock and key. Today, there are varieties to choose from, whether for industrial or home use: electronic lockers and safes, cloakroom lockers, floor lockers, touch screen security lockers, digital electronic security lockers, wall mount lockers, double door safe, dual lock system, biometric lock system, twin security lockers and more. Although there are dozens of ways to call them, we can categorize them into the way they keep our stuff safe: how they lock: electronically, mechanically, or both.

Lock systems:

Electronic Lock System: This type of locker and safe system uses the latest technology such as digital keys with numerical code, biometric keys, electronic card keys or the combination of two or more electronic keys. These are the most convenient and easy to use lockers, commonly found in public places like parks, airports, schools, factories, universities, and more.

Mechanical Locking System – The metal lock and key system was first used by the pioneers of the locker industry, the most rudimentary way to keep our things safe in modern times. This later evolved into a number combination lock system where the owner has to compete with a manufacturer made combination lock.

Dual Lock System: The dual lock system is a combination or hybrid of mechanical and electronic locks. It uses a digital lock combination, a biometric identification, an electronic key card paired with a mechanical combination, and/or a master key. This locking system may be the most secure of the three.

Electronic lockers are becoming the standard for high frequency locations.
