Who can say no to a crispy, tender, flavorful and delicious Cuban Pork Roast? If you’re planning a backyard party this weekend, a perfectly roasted pig will make the event truly memorable. But do you know what will make the affair even more spectacular? A nice menu that will complement the star of the buffet! If you’re in the blur and don’t know what to cook, try these suggestions.

A. Sauces for Pork Roast

1. Chimichurri sauce

Chimichurri sauce is perfect not only for pork roasts but also for other types of grilled dishes. To make a delicious serving of this sauce, simply combine red wine vinegar, fresh cilantro, cumin, olive oil, garlic cloves, salt, ground red pepper, and a puree of fresh Italian parsley.

2. Papaya and Mango Salsa

To give your roast a kick, whip up a light and refreshing dollop of papaya-mango salsa. Tropical flavors will add a delicious touch to your menu. Just cut up some papaya and ripe mangoes. Combine the fruits with minced garlic, chopped red onions, cider vinegar, black pepper, salt, coriander leaves, and currants.

B. Garnishes

1. Red Beans

Known to us as the popular Cuban red beans, this dish is a hearty soup made with a combination of rice, red beans, and ham. It is made even tastier with a number of spices such as cumin, oregano, red pepper, ground pepper, salt, onion, and tomato sauce.

2. Grilled pumpkin

Vegetables are also great side dishes for roast pork! Cut a butternut squash or squash into cubes or slices. Whisk together some vinegar and virgin olive oil in a bowl, then drizzle it over the squash. Season with salt and pepper, then grill until golden brown.

3. Stuffed Dad

If we love our Shepherd’s Pie, Cubans love their Papa Rellenas. They are stuffed and boiled potatoes that are also perfect for grilled dishes. To make this dish, you first have to prepare the filling. It is a combination of ground beef, garlic, onion and green pepper. The mixture must be seasoned with pepper, cumin, salt and then mixed with vinegar and tomato paste.

4. Saffron Rice

It is Saffron Rice for Cubans but we know it by the name of Saffron Rice. Instead of simply cooking the rice with water, it is cooked in a mixture of broth and saffron. When cooked, it will be transferred to a skillet and cooked over medium heat. To add flavor to the rice, you can also add salt, garlic, and onion.

C. Desserts

1. Numbers

The name might twist the tongue, but really, they’re just fried plantains. However, these are not sweet because they are actually sprinkled with salt instead of sugar. However, Cubans still consider them a delicious dessert.

2. Fruit Cocktail Ice Cream

Tropical fruits will always be part of a Cuban buffet. Fruit Cocktail Ice Cream is simply a combination of fruit cocktail, condensed milk and orange soda. Most people compare this dessert to ice cream. The comparison is almost accurate, but you should know that this treat is a bit on the lighter side.

3. Churros

Churros are cinnamon-flavored pastries that are either tossed or dipped in a rich chocolate sauce. I’m pretty sure you’re familiar with these because even malls have them.
