There are many must-see attractions in Cape Town!

1. Table Mountain

South Africa’s most famous mountain rises 1,000 meters above the city, visible to approaching ships from more than 150 km away. With so many different moods, it’s hard not to fall in love with him. As the Southern Easter casts mist towards it, the clouds eerily fall over its edges, creating an almost eerie waterfall over the great rock. A cable car and several hiking trails take visitors to the summit: no one has an excuse to miss out on the fantastic views from the top.

2. Signal Hill and Lion’s Head

These two mountains offer mesmerizing views of the city, Table Mountain, Sea Point, Robben Island, and the ocean. The Signal Hill lookout has recently been updated, a popular place to enjoy sunsets. A one and a half hour hike will take you to the top of Lions Head (669 metres), with stunning 360 degree views from here. This hike is definitely worth it.

3. Clifton, Camps Bay and Llandudno

Three of Cape Town’s most beautiful beaches are tucked away just minutes from the city center. Clifton is divided into 4 small beaches, each with its own unique character and atmosphere. If you’re looking for a meal or snack, head to Camps Bay. Several restaurants and cafes make it very popular. Llandudno beach is quieter, almost undiscovered, with wonderful mountain views and crystal clear waters.

4. Bay of Hout

A popular seaside town (referred to by many as the Republic of Hout Bay) famous for its good seafood, laid-back atmosphere and bustling port area. A boat trip to Seal Island with around 5,000 seals offers a unique and enjoyable experience. Chapmans Peak Drive offers fantastic views over the village and is not to be missed. Perfectly end your day with a romantic walk on the beach.

5. Victoria & Alfred Boardwalk

South Africa’s most visited attraction is sure to keep you busy. The shops are packed with the best collections of African art, jewelry and curiosities. With plenty of restaurants, cafes and wine bars to choose from, no one should leave with an empty stomach. Two Oceans Aquarium is not to be missed. If you have any doubts about going, just go! The Clock Tower Shopping Center is an exciting addition to the original complex, with even more shops to choose from.

6. Kirstenbosch Gardens

The Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens can be considered as one of the most beautiful gardens in the world. It was established in 1913 as a celebration of South Africa’s abundant plant life. The Gardens offer some of the best mountain scenery in Cape Town and offer some spectacular walks. Outdoor concerts are held during summer nights and are popular with young and old. Bring your picnic basket for the best Sunday picnic in town.

7. Blouberg Beach

For Table Mountain’s famous postcard view, head to Blouberg Beach. There is nothing better than a cool morning walk enjoying the extraordinary views. The beach is popular for kitesurfing, a sport that has taken the city by storm. Big Bay Beach, just north of Blouberg, is a secluded beach well worth visiting – the perfect place to enjoy an ice cream on a hot summer’s day.

8. Tours organized by municipalities and African art

Discover first-hand life in the South African townships – life so different yet so friendly and welcoming. Nowhere are the drums of Africa louder than here, the true heartbeat of the city. Taste the food, listen to the stories and get an insight into the daily lives of millions of South Africans. Only to be visited on an organized tour. A tour of Township will be one of the most unique and wonderful travel experiences of your life.

9. Robben Island

Home to former president Nelson Mandela imprisoned for 18 years, the destruction of apartheid is probably the most tangible thing here. The empty cell is a symbol that South Africans have been liberated, and the beautiful Table Mountain seen from the island is an indication of what all South Africans want their future to be like. The 30-minute ferry ride to the island is an attraction in its own right. You’ll visit the ultimate prison museum, have the chance to interact with a former political prisoner, and be taken around the island by bus.

10. Cape Peninsula and Cape Point

The Cape Peninsula stretches from Cape Point in the far south to the city in the north, with a distance of 70 km between them. It has some of the most spectacular scenery in South Africa, mostly magnificent mountain ranges, forests, pristine beaches and mountain passes. Standing at Cape Point overlooking the ocean on a clear day is an unforgettable experience.
