A high-tech secret city is said to exist in a remote jungle crater in South America. If so, who could be the scientists running this James Bond-like super fortress?
The story begins with the great Italian scientist Guglielmo Marconi (1874 – 1973), a former student of Nikola Tesla. Marconi studied the theory of radio transmission with Tesla and made his first radio transmission in 1895. Both Marconi and Tesla are credited with inventing the radio. Marconi’s historic radio transmission used a Heinrich Hertz spark arrester, a Popov antenna, and an Edoliard Bramely coherer for his simple device that would become the modern radio.
Marconi was a man of mystery in his later years and was known for conducting experiments, including anti-gravity experiments, aboard his yacht Electra. In June 1936 Marconi showed the Italian Fascist dictator Benito Mussolini a wave gun device that could be used as a defensive weapon. In the 1930s these devices were popularized as “death rays”, as in a Boris Karloff film of the same name. Marconi demonstrated the lightning bolt on a busy highway north of Milan one afternoon. Mussolini had asked his wife Rachele to also be on the road at 3:30 in the afternoon sharp. Marconi’s device caused the electrical systems of all the cars, including Rachele’s, to fail. The car engines did not run for half an hour, while their driver and other motorists checked fuel pumps and spark plugs. At 3.35 all the cars were able to start again. Genovese claimed that the city had been built with vast financial resources, was underground, and had better research facilities than any other research facility in the world (at least at the time). “In 1952,” according to Genovese, “we sailed over all the seas and continents in a ship whose power supply was continuous and practically inexhaustible.
