In these days of high fuel costs and environmental problems, people are looking for ways to save money and help the planet. One way they are doing this is by turning to electric vehicles like bicycles, scooters, mopeds, and mobility scooters. They are discovering that there are many advantages over fuel-powered vehicles, primarily cost, environmental factors, and parking, just to name a few. Another bonus is the sheer fun of driving these things as you go through traffic, taking shortcuts, all with due care, of course.

As I was writing these articles, the only thing that struck me is the difference this type of vehicle can make in people’s lives, especially if a car is not a viable option. Let’s look at people who have a physical problem that restricts their mobility, with an electric scooter they can gain a tremendous amount of independence in their lives doing those everyday things that we take for granted. It also means that they don’t have to depend on other people to do these things for them.

As the popularity of these vehicles grows, the options they have now are huge and so profitable that you can have one type for different uses and also backup if there is a failure in a machine. What I mean is that you can have a folding machine for convenience and storage or a complete machine that will take you almost anywhere with ease. Additionally, batteries and chargers are much more sophisticated, allowing for less control along with better energy storage. For bicycles there are also aftermarket kits that can be attached to a normal machine without having to pay the expense of buying a special machine.

It will be worth checking the local rules and regulations in your area regarding licensing and insurance. In most areas, you won’t need a special license, and in some cases, children as young as 12 will be able to take these machines on the road. Plus, in many cases, your current auto, home, or health insurance will cover most setbacks.

I have written a separate article for each group that I have mentioned here and you will find the links on the left side of this page. Please enjoy them
